Well, we have arrived in Richmond. The journey here was straightforward with no traffic problems on the way. We had a late lunch in Knaresborough and have just got back from dinner in The Black Lion Inn accompanied by Black Sheep bitter. The Old Brewery Guest House is excellent and very comfortable.
Packing last night was a nightmare. We are limited to 2 bags weighing a maximum of 20kg each. You would have thought that was ample but we managed to blow the budget at the first attempt! The (steam powered) laptop weighs 5 kg itself. Then we each packed a spare pair of boots. That doesn't leave much over for the rest. Anyway, we threw out some of the non-essentials and got it down to 36 kg total.
We are both on tenterhooks wondering what the next few days will bring. We leave here at 0730 tomorrow morning and drive to St. Bees. Breakfast is at 0645. It's not very often we have to get up this early these days. The weather forecast is excellent with sunshine all day and the temperatures are lower and more comfortable than we had over Easter.
Time for bed!
